About Shane

Shane was born in 1995 and is a Doberman Pinscher. His mom (me, Jackie) helps him out with this page because she understands those computer thingies a little bit better. Shane has more important things to do, like chasing S.Q.U.I.R.R.E.L.S. We have to spell this word in our home, or at least whisper it out of Shane's hearing.

Other words to make a note of if you come to visit Shane are: W.A.L.K., R.I.D.E., and C.O.O.K.I.E.

Shane shares his world with Mom and the kitties, Pandora and Maia (see the photo gallery) and my floppy-eared rescue girl, Perl, who is a handicapped Doberman. Also at the top of his list are Grandma and Grandpa, and their dog Sammy. Ooops! S.A.M.M.Y. (Sammy passed away in 2003 at the age of 13.). Update 2/25/04: Grandma has a new puppy! More pictures of Rommel (Kimbertal's Desert Fox) will be coming as soon as he stands still long enough.

Shane misses his little brother Giles who moved away when my brother relocated. Giles is a big, fierce Fila Brasiliero (Brazilian Mastiff) who viciously defends his home from strangers by squeaking his stuffed monkey at them and covering them with doggie drool. Mom has promised Shane she'll find him a new brother or sister soon. Shane recently brought to Mom's attention COPE, the national directory of Doberman Rescue. Mom thinks this is a good place to start their search too. Such a smart boy!

Please visit us again soon! Mom will keep this site updated with the latest news and events in the life of the most extrordinary Doberman on the planet.

UPDATE! 2/14/01 - Shane's new sister has a name. Meet Perl (and her favorite napping spot) ... Perl is approximately 4 months old now, and growing like a weed. On February 2nd she weighed in at 27 pounds. Living with a deaf puppy has proved interesting and challenging to both Shane and his parents (not to mention the kitties!). Shane has been a perfect gentleman... no surprise there! He even tries to take the blame for all her naughty puppy behavior (but Mom knows better).

What's with that name??? Yes, I know how to spell. Yes, it's P E R L not P E A R L. Perl is the name of a UNIX programming language. Yes, I'm a geek. :Þ

UPDATE! 1/12/01 - Shane has a new sister! We recently adopted a 10 week old floppy-eared dobergirl, who we found on petfinder.org. She is a very special little girl who was born prematurely and was very ill. As a result, she is brain damaged and deaf. Shane is thrilled to have a new baby in the house, and he's showing her the ropes and sharing his toys like a real gentleman. The people at deafdogs.org have been very helpful and supportive. We'll add more pics in the near future -- as soon as we find a few minutes to spare! Mom hasn't had a puppy in the house in almost 6 years... and she's not as young as she used to be. :)
